Welcome to the heart and soul of music on Florida’s Historic Coast.
If you find yourself walking down St. George Street one evening—and you will—you might just hear some music wafting in the air. Follow where it leads, and it’ll probably take you down a vine covered path to one of the most beautiful little secret gardens in the middle of the Ancient City. You’ve arrived at the Colonial Oak Music Park.
The first thing you’ll notice is the commanding presence of a majestic 300-year-old oak tree with lanterns hanging down from its wide branches. The effect is absolutely magical. Then, there’s the stage, right there, in the middle of all the action, surrounded by rustic tables filled with music lovers of all genres. On any given weekend you’re as likely to hear some country ballads as you are bluegrass mandolins and rock classics by local and national performers.
In this intimate outdoor setting, you’ll feel as if you were invited to a private party with 200 of your closest friends. And you’re bound to make some new friends at shared benches and tables.
As you sing along or dance and sway to the live music. It’s easy to forget you’re smack dab in the heart of the Historic District, but there you are. Be sure to try one of the local craft brews or signature cocktails and some fresh local seafood at the St. Augustine Seafood Company. Their shrimp baskets, hearty chowders and conch fritters are as memorable as the music.
For a truly immersive experience, you’ll want to make sure you take a walk through history at the Colonial Quarter, of which the music park is a part. Visitors of all ages will enjoy an interactive journey exploring over 400 years of life in St. Augustine with living history demonstrations, storytelling, musket drill and strolls through historic buildings that bring the past to life.
