Free Memorial Day Weekend Beach Shuttle

To ease traffic during one of the busiest beach weekends, St. Johns County is offering free shuttle service from May 23-25, 2026, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. (Weather Permitting).

Shuttle Route:
Between St. Augustine Beach City Hall (2200 A1A South) and the St. Johns County Ocean & Fishing Pier, with direct access to beach and Pier amenities. Shuttles run every 20 minutes.

SJC Ocean & Fishing Pier Closed

Please note: The St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier, 350 A1A Beach Blvd., is temporarily closed beginning May 13 for a construction project to repair and strengthen the pier pilings. Construction is expected to continue through November 2026.

The Splash Park and beach access will remain open and accessible throughout the project.

Yes, you can drive your vehicle on St. Augustine Beach within designated areas and dependent on tides and weather conditions. There are seasonal fees to drive onto the beach. For more information about beach access and permits, visit the St. Johns County website.

Are dogs allowed on the beach?

Yes, dogs are allowed on St. Augustine Beach as long as they are on a leash. Please be sure to clean up after your pet. Since dogs can get overheated, you may wish to bring along an umbrella, or shade structure, plus plenty of drinking water for your pup. Nearby pet friendly dining options include Salt Life Food Shack and Sunset Grille.

Can you swim at St. Augustine Beach?

Yes, you can swim at St. Augustine Beach as long as you are not within 400 feet of the St. Johns County Ocean Fishing Pier. From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, you will find lifeguards stationed along the shore for your safety.
