One of Golf’s Biggest Events
First held in 1974, THE PLAYERS Championship has become one of the top events in the world of golf. It features the very best golfers competing in a setting that is as impressive as the competition. The excitement of seeing outstanding golfers playing for a share of the second largest purse on the PGA Tour make this competition a favorite with golf fans worldwide. The event’s traditional emphasis on honoring the nation’s armed forces combined with its reputation for family friendliness create a truly positive atmosphere for everyone who attends.
The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass
Home of THE PLAYERS Championship since 1982, the course showcases the talents of legendary designer Pete Dye. It is challenging for golfers, but very accommodating for spectators. Easy for the entire family to walk, there are also covered bleachers providing shade and great views of holes 10, 12, 13 and 16. Each hole of this beautiful course is a unique and picturesque destination that creates a “I can’t wait to see what’s next” sense of anticipation. And, of course, there’s Number 17, the iconic Island Green – quite possibly the most recognized and certainly one of the most challenging holes in the world.
Food and Fun
Food vendors are available throughout the course, ranging from quick-serve food trucks to elegant outdoor dining featuring some of the region’s top restaurants and chefs. There are also Kid Zones with entertaining and energy-burning activities. The PGA TOUR Fan Shop features 36,500 square feet of golf merchandise from the biggest names in the business. Tuesday’s activities also include a concert, artist TBA.
