St. Augustine, Fla. (February 27, 2023) – Spring is an exciting time to explore Florida’s Historic Coast. Spring brings exciting cultural events to St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches. Classic performances, historic reenactments, live theater, festivals, and music are examples of the many experiences that have elevated this destination to being one of the greatest places to visit in the U.S.
In addition to the popular cultural and food celebrations like the St. Augustine Celtic Music & Heritage Festival, the Gamble Rogers Music Festival, the Romanza Festivale of the Arts, St. Augustine Food + Wine Festival, and Master’s of Fire + Ice, there are dozens of other great ways to explore the art, food, heritage and music that is a very important part of the visitor experience. Whether attending an event or a exploring one of the exceptional galleries or museums, there are numerous ways to appreciate the arts on Florida’s Historic Coast. Music is always in the air. Exceptional world-renowned performers regularly take the stage at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, while the smaller stages present lots of opportunity to enjoy the area’s vast local talent.
Spring is a great time to get out and enjoy outdoor programs featured on Florida’s Historic Coast. St. Johns County Parks and Recreation naturalists , the park rangers at Anastasia State Park, or docents at GTM Research Reserve regularly provide really cool and free programs for visitors throughout the year. GeoTrippin Adventure Co. makes a nighttime visit to the GTM even more exciting by providing Bioluminescent Encounters at Guana Lake during the new moon. Anastasia State Park offers a series of guided bird walks and marsh explorations most weekends, and the docents at GTM Research Reserve offer weekly programs like Beach Exploration 101, family seining, beach cleanups, and more.
There are exciting places to stay whether it is in one of the charming historic inns in St. Augustine, along the coast from Ponte Vedra Beach to Crescent Beach, or at one of the other many lodging options found throughout the area. This Spring, the long awaited opening of the new Hyatt Place Vilano Beach will provide the perfect base for visitors staying beachside. This art-deco style hotel, which blends in beautifully with the Vilano Beach Main Street, will feature rooftop dining at Pesca by Michael’s, with coastal fare and incredible views of the city of St. Augustine, the Atlantic Ocean, the St. Augustine inlet and Anastasia State Park.
Connecting Vilano Beach with downtown St. Augustine, Dolphin Bay Scenic Shuttle carries passengers between the Vilano Beach Public Pier and the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. Along with the convenience of not driving a car and searching for a parking space, the water shuttle provides lots of opportunities for seeing dolphins and coastal birds up close.
Getting here is easy too. There are e flight options on major carriers into Jacksonville and Daytona International Airports – each within an hour’s drive. In late May, Breeze Airways will offer new non-stop flight service from Louisville, KY; New York-Islip, NY; Cincinnati, OH; Los Angeles, CA, and Pittsburg, PA to the Jacksonville, FL airport. Service on Breeze Airways from Hartford, CT; Las Vegas, NV; New Orleans, LA and Westchester, NY to Jacksonville will continue through March 2023.
