Music, Sweet Music – The Soundtrack of Florida’s Historic Coast
On Florida’s Historic Coast, the rhythm never stops. Whether you’re a visitor discovering the charm of St. Augustine or a local who knows every note by heart, one thing is certain—this is a music lover’s paradise. From intimate acoustic sets to arena-worthy performances, the region’s soundtrack plays year-round, blending history, culture, and unforgettable live entertainment.
A vibrant community turns up the volume with an impressive lineup of concerts and performances throughout the year. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre (ranked #2 spot in the United States and #3 worldwide in Pollstar Magazine's 2025 mid-year report for ticket sales) and the recently reimagined Ponte Vedra Concert Hall regularly host internationally acclaimed artists, while beloved local and regional bands keep the energy alive at venues throughout Florida’s Historic Coast.
Signature events set the stage for unforgettable experiences. Produced by the St. Johns Cultural Events Division, September’s Sing Out Loud Festival takes over the city with dozens of free performances at venues large and small. The festival crescendos with the Live Wildly Showcase, a two-day ticketed event that has welcomed some of today’s biggest names in music. Featured performers include Beabadoobee, Vance Joy, Father John Misty, Maren Morris, David Kushner, and Sarah Kinsley on Saturday, September 20. On Sunday, Sept ember 21, Hozier, The Teskey Brothers, Rilo Kiley, Gigi Perez, sombr, and Brenn! will take the stage.
Throughout the month of September, more than 100 local singers, songwriters, and musicians performing a diverse range of genres at the free Sing Out Loud Local Artist Showcase performances. Highlighted venues include the Colonial Oak Music Park, on St. George Street; The Waterworks, the original city of St. Augustine’s first water pumping station; and restaurants like Ragga Surf Cafe, a beachy food truck park on the San Sebastian River, Dog Rose Brewing Co. in Historic Lincolnville, and many more.
In February in honor of Black History Month, and in partnership with Friends of Fort Mose Historic State Park, the St. Johns County Cultural Division also presents the Annual Fort Mose Jazz and Blues Festival—a soulful celebration that honors the legacy of Fort Mose, the first legally sanctioned free African settlement in the U.S. The 2025 lineup featured icons like Macy Gray, Kem, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tower of Power, Dinner Party and Preservation Hall Jazz Band, drawing fans from across the nation. The February 2026 line-up will be announced in Fall 2025.
In the Spring the Annual Gamble Rogers Folk Festival re-creates much of Rogers’ music and stories while giving aspiring young performers an opportunity to follow in his footsteps. There’s even a youth music contest. The three-day festival features more than two dozen acts selected from among America’s top folk performers.
In the Summer months, Wednesdays bring the Music by the Sea series to St. Johns Ocean Pier Park on St. Augustine Beach, and Thursday evenings pulse with Concerts in the Plaza and the Colonial Oak Music Park in the heart of historic St. Augustine.
To make it easier to follow the beat, Florida’s Historic Coast Radio offers curated Spotify channels featuring music from local performers and headline artists that perform at venues and events on Florida’s Historic Coast.
From oceanfront stages to centuries-old plazas, St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra offer a music scene as diverse and dynamic as the coastline itself. Come for the history, stay for the music—you’ll find the perfect soundtrack here.
