Guster Performs at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall1050 A1A N

The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is a small but mighty performance venue.
The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall has a sense of both soul and spirit. You could chalk that up to some of the most revered alternative and premier musical acts that have played the venue in its near decade of existence. Or that it was literally a religious site for years before its conversion in 2009.
That’s right, the hall that seats about 450 people (about 900 if it’s a standing audience) was once a church. The New Beginnings Baptist Church was housed in the building for years before the congregation and church leaders decided they need a bigger place for its increasing number of followers.
So, church officials sold the property to St. Johns County. Officials with the county government realized the acoustic advantages to the sanctuary and immediately moved to convert the church to a cultural center.

Local entertainers started to perform at the Concert Hall shortly after it was opened. Then premier acts - ranging from Robbie Kreiger (guitarist for The Doors) to Todd Rundgren to Rita Coolidge to alternative rockers The Breeders - played the venue creating a reputation for the beloved theater as an entertainment spot off the beaten path. It serves as a perfect venue for up-and-coming artists with a following to classic artists who still tour but prefer a more intimate performance setting.
The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall shares the mantle of attracting top performers along with its “sister venue,” the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, which hugs the coast southeast of historic downtown St. Augustine.
The Amphitheatre has developed its own world-renowned reputation and is a favorite among music fans who often fill the venue that holds just under 5,000 people. But the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall has carved its own niche among the artistically inclined along Florida’s Historic Coast. If one of your favorite acts comes to the hall, make sure you check them out because it’s not likely you can get any closer to those performers with its smaller setting.
And what about those churchgoers who sold the property to St. Johns County? They used those proceeds to open a new sanctuary and religious facility that continues to go strong and is now known as Crosswater Community Church that’s still in Ponte Vedra, just a few miles from the Concert Center.
The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is located at 1050 State Road A1A North. Check out the calendar of events at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall by visiting PVConcertHall.com or call 904-209-0399.
