Join Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Center for a book signing with Dr. Edda Fields-Black, author of COMBEE: Harriet Tubman, the Combahee River Raid, and Black Freedom During the Civil War. Fields-Black is a renowned scholar known for her work on West African rice farmers and the African Diaspora. Her other works include Deep Roots: Rice Farmers in West Africa and the African Diaspora and Rice: Global Networks and New Histories. A descendant of Africans enslaved on rice plantations in Colleton County, South Carolina, her family history connects to the Combahee River Raid and Gullah Geechee culture.
