Right here in St. Augustine | Ponte Vedra.
For starters, there’s the beach. Lots and lots of Atlantic coast beaches--42 miles of some of the best in Florida--with plenty of elbow room to stretch out on our white quartz sand, surf our pristine waters, or parasail high above it all.
It’s only natural you’ll want to be outdoors as much as possible. Luckily, St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra Beach boast acres of natural reserves and forests and miles of trails to explore them by foot or bicycle. Prefer the water? We’ll set you up with a paddle board or kayak to meander at your leisure along the many estuaries and inlets where you just might come upon a curious dolphin or friendly manatee. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you can hike up 219 steps to the top of the lighthouse for a breathtaking view or zipline over crocodiles. Yes, they’re real. And they’re spectacular.
While you’re out and about, a stroll or trolley ride along the brick-lined streets of downtown St. Augustine will point the way to wonderful historic sites in the nation’s oldest city, and nestled in between them, charming historic inns and restaurants offering the freshest local-caught seafood and farm-to-fork cuisine anywhere. Not to mention, attractions and tasting tours that’ll lift your spirits. Whether you’re watching the sunset from a deck overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway or sitting under a canopy of stars in an outdoor secret garden, you’ll feel like you’re in another world, another time, yet very much at home.
Of course, even a short drive to St. Augustine can take you back some 450 years. But at some point, it’ll hit you: this amazing getaway isn’t faraway at all. And you’ll be making plans to come back again.
