In "Sequestered Signers: The Lives and Revolutionary War Confinement of Thomas Heyward, Arthur Middleton, and Edward Rutledge in St. Augustine," Murphree examines the experiences of three Declaration of Independence signers who were held in St. Augustine during the war, shedding light on their lives, captivity, and the city’s strategic role in the conflict.
