Overview
Fort Mose State Park is located along the eastern coastal flyway for migrating birds and is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, providing a critical stopping point for birds to feed and rest.
Fort Mose is also an important rookery to nesting birds along the east coast of Florida; hosting imperiled species such as wood storks which reside in the salt marsh and maritime hammock.
More than 100 bird species have been identified within Fort Mose State Park and free guided bird walks are offered – if you’d like to explore, be sure to ask a Ranger Station for the Park’s Birding Checklist.
