Farm to Fork Dining in St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra

St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra have a burgeoning culinary scene that foodies from all over the world are discovering, drawing them to Florida’s Historic Coast®. You’ll find fresh local ingredients – from seafood to fruits and vegetables – on menus of the area’s many independent restaurants, bistros, cafés, fine-dining establishments and casual eateries, with a special emphasis on farm-to-fork freshness.

The locally grown and organic ingredients used by chefs here often come from the farms west of St. Augustine. Farmers Markets are plentiful on Florida’s Historic Coast® including a European-style farm market open daily located just off the beaten path in St. Augustine.

The Rype & Readi Farm Market is popular among residents, visitors, and professional and amateur chefs alike. Wander through the aisles of Rype & Readi and you’ll find a bounty of seasonal fruits, vegetables and nuts. Artisan breads, cheese and yogurts from local dairy farms are always available, as well as honey and Rype & Readi’s own brand of sauces and pickled vegetables. The Rype & Readi Farm Market is open daily from 9 am – 6 pm.

Much of the produce available at the Farm Market comes from the Rype & Readi Elkton Farm and surrounding agricultural community. Special events take place year-round at the farm in Elkton in west St. Johns County, such as the annual Blueberry Festival. 

Rype & Readi also operates a Golf Bistro at St. Johns Golf Club, which serves up breakfast and lunch incorporating produce from its Elkton farm and others in the agricultural region. Cooking classes led by local chefs are held regularly at the Golf Bistro, which is open Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 am to 8 pm.
