Break Out From Old Jail in 5K

The prisoners are making a break from the Old Jail in St. Augustine and are calling for you to run with them. The “Jail Break 5K, Escape from St. Augustine” returns October 27 for one of the most unusual run/walk events you’ve ever experienced. Costumes, Jail Guards, and a Paddy Wagon, there’s plenty of motivation to get you going.

The Jail Break 5K is presented by VELOFEST Community Initiative and Old Town Trolleys. Runners, walkers and strollers will enjoy a point to point 5k that is uniquely St. Augustine. Individuals and teams are encouraged to come dressed in costume. Winners of the costume contest receive a round of applause and a cash prize.

The race route takes participants from the Old Jail over the Vilano Bridge and ends at the Vilano Beach access. Those who don’t want to run back to jail can be transported in the Paddy Wagon, also known as the Trolley.

Once back at the Old Jail, there’s a Bike Rodeo with free helmets presented by BMX Trickstars, breakfast, live music and fall festival games!  Plus, you won’t leave thirsty or empty handed.  The Spice and Tea Exchange will be serving up their famous Bloody Marys and you’ll get a fun swag bag.
