Overview
St. Augustine Film Society presents a screening of This Happy Breed, a poignant drama directed by David Lean and adapted from Noël Coward’s 1939 stage play. The film portrays the life of a working-class family in suburban London and reflects the social and political shifts that shaped Britain between the World Wars. As Lean’s first Technicolor production, the film addresses themes such as suburban expansion, class and social mobility, the general strike of 1926, evolving gender roles, and the rise of political polarization and fascism. The screening is scheduled for 2-5 p.m. Admission is free for Film Society members and $10 for guests. 11 Old Mission Ave., St. Augustine. www.staugustinefilmsociety.com
