Overview
Experience *The Monk and the Gun*, the second film in the Central Asia Film Festival, directed by Pawo Choyning Dorji. Building on themes from his earlier work, *Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom*, this thought-provoking film is set in 2006 during Bhutan’s transition from an absolute monarchy to a parliamentary democracy. It examines the encroachment of modernity on traditional values, exploring the intersection of spirituality, politics, and cultural shifts brought about by globalization. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the film beginning at 7:30 p.m. Film Society members attend for free, and guest tickets are $8. The screening takes place at Temple Bet Yam, 2055 Wildwood Dr., St. Augustine. www.staugustinefilmsociety.com
