What You Need To Know

Hosted by Historic Florida Militia St. Augustine Garrison, this event commemorates St. Augustine's Colonial period from 1739-1784. The Colonial Night Watch/St. Augustine Garrison is providing free admission to the Colonial Quarter, 33 St. George St., on Saturday. Inside the Colonial Quarter, there will be activities throughout the day, including tours, musket firing, demonstrations and a live 18th century encampment. Across the street, the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, 1 S. Castillo Dr., will be active with 18th century musket and cannon firing during the day. In the evening, the beautiful Torchlight Parade will take place at 7 p.m. The parade route begins at the Castillo, processes down St. George Street and ends at the Governor's House Cultural Center & Museum, 48 King St. A proclamation will be given by the colonial governor, a volley of joy will be fired by the troops and the evening concludes with Christmas carols.
