What You Need To Know

Anastasia State Park, 300 Anastasia Park Rd., and Fort Mose Historic State Park, 15 Fort Mose Trail, will host several interpretive programs taking place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in honor of National Public Lands Day. Discover your local public lands and learn about the important natural and cultural resources within them. Visit Anastasia State Park at 10 a.m. for a special presentation by the Crescent Beach Ladies' Beekeeping Collective. Learn about the importance of bees to the ecosystem, view a real beehive and sample some honey. The program is free with regular park admission, which ranges from $8-$2. Next, join Fort Mose Historic State Park for hands-on Exotic Plant Round-Up from 1-3 p.m. This volunteer opportunity will help rid the local natural areas of invasive plant species. Volunteers will need to bring gloves, wear long pants and comfortable shoes and be prepared to get dirty. Park entry is free for this event. Complete the day back at Anastasia State Park for a special guided evening walk through the historical Old Spanish Coquina Quarries from 4-5 p.m. This informative program with a fun and knowledgeable ranger will bring the history of the quarry to life.
