Overview
Discover the vital role of the native Gopher Tortoise during a guided walk with a park ranger at Anastasia State Park. This educational program includes a short walk along the Maritime Hammock to observe tortoise habitats and learn how these keystone species support the local ecosystem. Participants should dress for the weather and bring binoculars, a reusable water bottle, comfortable shoes, and a field guide if available. Meet at the Island Beach Shop & Grill at 10 a.m. The program is free with regular park admission ($8 per vehicle with 2–8 people, $4 for single-occupant vehicles, and $2 for pedestrians or cyclists).
