Overview
City Walks is proud to present a regularly scheduled series of historic walking tours every Sunday at 2 p.m. that are offered for free to guests. This historic walking tour will focus on the Gilded Age of Henry Flagler, one of the city's most famous residents, responsible for many of the most beautiful and glamorous buildings constructed in town. During this fascinating one hour walking tour participants will learn how Henry Flagler transformed this sleepy little Spanish village into a playground for the rich and famous during the late 1800's. Highlights will include exterior tours of some of the magnificent structures built by Mr. Flagler, who was a partner in Standard Oil, as well as those built by his contemporaries and competitors. See the Ponce De Leon Hotel (now Flagler College) the Alcazar Hotel (now Lightner Museum and St. Augustine City Hall), and also the Casa Monica Hotel , as you learn about the dramas and intrigues of this fascinating era. If you're lucky, you may even encounter Mr. or Mrs. Flagler in person! Tours depart from the Tour St. Augustine office on Sundays at 2 p.m. Space is limited so advance reservations are required. 4 Granada St., St. Augustine. 904-825-0087 www.StAugustineCityWalks.com
