Hailed by NPR as “one of America’s defining voices of freedom and peace,” Mavis Staples is the kind of once-in-a-generation artist whose impact on music and culture would be difficult to overstate. She’s both a Blues and a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer; a civil rights icon; a GRAMMY Award-winner; a chart-topping soul/gospel/R&B pioneer; a National Arts Awards Lifetime Achievement recipient; and a Kennedy Center honoree.

Fort Mose Historic State Park host the 2nd annual Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series from February 10 to February 19. To honor the history and celebrate the cultural significance of Fort Mose, the Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series will be comprised of six unforgettable performances over two weeks in February from some of the biggest names in their respective genres.
Proceeds of this series will support the construction of an on-site fort representation and development of additional interpretive resources. The original fort was destroyed during the Battle of Bloody Mose in 1740.
