Join us at Limelight Theatre for a screening of Brief Encounter, the 1945 film noir directed by David Lean and based on Noël Coward’s one-act play. Widely regarded as a masterclass in understated storytelling, the film delves into the complexities of forbidden love, societal expectations, and the struggle between personal desire and moral duty. Brief Encounter was awarded the 1946 Grand Prix at Cannes (the forerunner to the Palme d’Or) and received Academy Award nominations for Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
