With so many options it’s hard to choose. Locals know that you can try before you buy with samples from local culinary purveyors. Here are a few options to taste your way through Florida’s Historic Coast.

On the Tasting Tours you’ll explore the exciting history, culture and food that make the area a top culinary destination. Stop at restaurants off the beaten path and sample wines along the way.

Farm Fresh Abundance
Many vendors at area Farmer’s Markets offer samples of their fresh produce, jams and jellies and baked goods. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Amphitheatre with free parking. The weekly Wednesday Market at the St. Johns County Ocean Pier Park is open 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with dozens of vendors selling fruits and vegetables, sauces and sweets. Sweet and Spicy
Located in the heart of St. Augustine’s historic district, Whetstone Chocolate Factory Tours delve into the history and production of chocolate as well as the story of the Whetstone family. And you’ll get a taste of many different types of chocolate as you see the confections in production. Brimming with sweet treats, also pay a visit to Claude’s Chocolate and Crème de la Cocoa. Stopover at the Spice & Tea Exchange where you’ll often find homemade dips and sauces to taste made from the shop’s spice creations.

Wine, Spirits & Brews
San Sebastian Winery has daily complimentary tours and wine tastings of its award-winning Florida wines. Right around the corner is the St. Augustine Distillery. Housed in a historic ice plant from the turn-of-the-century, a free guided tour takes you through the distilling process of handcrafted vodka, gin, rum and bourbon with guests offered samples of specialty mixed cocktails. Wine shops that offer tastings include Carrera Wine Cellar and Bin 39. Popular craft breweries such as Ancient City Brewery, BOG Brewery and Dog Rose Brewery let you taste their homemade beers.
