Corazon Cinema and Café: Films, Food and Fun in the Oldest City

Looking for entertaining films, great food, live comedy, poetry readings and even Victorian high tea all under one roof? That’s quite a wish list, but locals will tell you there is only one place to find all of that in St. Augustine – The Corazon Cinema and Café.

Located at 36 Granada Street, this delightfully quirky entertainment mecca is housed in one of St. Augustine’s oldest surviving brick buildings. Both inside and out, the Corazon’s nostalgic architecture leaves no doubt that this venue is something “different.”

If you enjoy films, you’ll find first run, independent and foreign productions featured in two theaters with tickets priced at $8 and $6 for matinees. There are also themed events throughout the year -- Oscar night is always a huge production– there’s even a red carpet! The Corazon is also a host of the popular St. Augustine Film Festival.

The Cafe gets rave reviews! The menu features movie-themed cuisine (no surprise there), with more than 20 specialty sandwiches with cinematic names like the Humphrey Bogart, Meryl Streep, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry. In addition, you can choose from a variety of tasty wraps, salads and French bread pizzas. Beer and wine are also served. Plus, everything on the menu can be enjoyed in the theaters while watching a great flick.

Wednesday features Trivia Night; Throw Back Thursday has classic films; Friday is Improv Night; and the third Sunday of each month has poetry readings.  Inspired by the highly-successful Downton Abbey exhibit that recently visited the Lightner Museum across the street, the Corazon also hosts an impressive High Tea each Saturday and Sunday.

The Corazon Cinema and Café is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until late in the evening.
