St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra events transport you from sparkling city streets to wildlife-rich natural spaces

An exciting lineup of annual events in St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra celebrates heritage, food, music, art, wildlife and more. Happenings include Nights of Lights, Florida’s Birding & Photo Fest, THE PLAYERS Championship and many others. Read on to learn about trip-worthy annual events along Florida’s Historic Coast.
Nights of Lights
St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights is one of the top holiday lighting displays in the world, according to National Geographic magazine. After sunset, more than 3 million white lights illuminate the historic district, including the former Ponce de Leon Hotel (now Flagler College) and the Hotel Alcazar (now the Lightner Museum and City Hall). Experience the holiday glow on foot, by open-air trolley or on a romantic carriage ride. Festivities take place throughout the historic district, the St. Augustine Lighthouse and St. Augustine Beach from mid-November through the end of January.
Florida’s Birding & Photo Fest
Nature lovers can study the area’s wildlife habitats while photography buffs can improve techniques for capturing images during the Annual Florida’s Birding & Photo Fest. Birders and photographers observe and photograph the avian species that call the area home. Nature lovers can enjoy bird walks, kayak and boat tours and photography workshops. Held each spring, most events take place at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve in Ponte Vedra.

Fireworks Over Matanzas
The annual fireworks display over Matanzas Bay in the St. Augustine historic district draws thousands of patriotic revelers each year. But before Florida’s Historic Coast lights up the sky, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy yourself on July 4 in St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches.
