Parking Tips for St. Augustine

Parking in St. Augustine's historic district can be difficult during peak visitation times. So to make your visit to St. Augustine a happy one, here are a few suggestions for parking.

This year, for the first time, July 4th weekend there will be a free Park ‘n Ride Shuttle, a free transportation service to and from downtown St. Augustine.
 
The free Park ‘n Ride Shuttle will operate on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, July 2 - 4, from 10 am. to 1 a.m. (the following day) bringing passengers to the St. Augustine Visitor Information Center, 10 W. Castillo Drive, from three satellite parking locations.
 
Running on a continuous schedule, the Park 'n Ride Shuttle will serve each location approximately every 20 minutes.
 
Satellite parking locations to the St. Augustine Visitor Information Center

  • St. Johns County Administration Building / 500 San Sebastian View
  • St. Johns County Health Department / 200 San Sebastian View
  • San Marco Ave. / 301 San Marco Ave.

A free Park & Walk lot (no shuttle) is located at 212 W. King St

On July 4 only, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. there will be free Park 'n ride Shuttle service from Anastasia Island to a location east of the Bridge of Lions from the following locations

  • RB Hunt Elementary School / 125 Magnolia Dr.
  • St. Augustine Alligator Farm / 99 Anastasia Blvd
  • St Augustine Amphitheatre / 1340 A1A South, C
  • Anastasia Baptist Church / 1650 A1A South

The Bridge of Lions will be closed to vehicle traffic on July 4th from 8:30 - 10:30 p.m.

During the Regular Summer Season

The best place to park is the St. Augustine Downtown Parking Garage at 29 W. Castillo Dr. The parking garage is an easy walk to the Visitors Information Center and the historic district. Cost to park in the garage for the full day and evening hours is $12 per car. Cash, credit card, debit card or ParkNow cards accepted.

Metered/Pay Station

Parking lots are located throughout the downtown area and on-street parking is available in many areas. Some areas require payment for parking with a pay-station and others with meters. Pay stations accept cash, credit or debit cards (Visa or Mastercard) and ParkNow cards.  Meters accept coins or ParkNow cards, no credit or debit cards. Parking in these areas is enforced 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, excluding national holidays. The Castillo de San Marcos lot is enforced seven days a week, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Note that enforcement in the King Street/Cathedral Place area begins at 10 a.m., Monday-Saturday.
