Ideas & Images at Flagler College: Historic Preservation, Building Codes and Resiliency
Two lectures will take place starting at 7 p.m. as part of the Ideas & Images Series. First, David Guggenheim, founder and president of Ocean Doctor, will talk about how many of Cuba's marine ecosystems remain spectacularly healthy, teeming with endangered species seldom seen elsewhere in the Caribbean. He will share why Cuba's ecosystems remain so healthy as well as future threats to the marine ecosystem. Next, Mary Werner DeNadai, an American Historic Preservation Architect, will share about Ernest Hemingway's home outside of Havana, Cuba. This was the place where he crafted some of his greatest works. Since 2005, restoration of his beloved Finca Vigia, Overlook Farm, began to manifest itself with the unlikely alliance of Cubans and Americans. Both lectures are free at Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College.
