Flight to Freedom
From the mid-17th Century through the first half of the 18th Century, hundreds, if not thousands, fled enslavement on the British indigo and sugar plantations in coastal South Carolina in search of freedom in Spanish Florida. This is their story of the perilous, dangerous and life-risking journey south to St. Augustine. Walk with them on the Freedom Trail, the first Underground Railroad. The event is from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Fort Mose State Park. Admission into the event is free. General admission into the museum is $2.
