What You Need To Know

Florida Living History event focuses on the ancient Spanish tradition of El Dia de los Difuntos, The Day of the Deceased, when families and friends celebrate and joyfully honor the memory of their loved ones who have died. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the historic customs and foodways associated with this holiday will be shared at the Tolomato Cemetery. There will be a traditional Marcha de la Santa Compaña, March of the Holy Company, a torch-lit procession through downtown St. Augustine that starts at 7 p.m. at St. George Street and Cathedral Place. This event will conclude with an abbreviated, candle-lit production of the play El Muerto, illustrating the triumph of love over death at 8 p.m. at the Tolomato Cemetery. Admission is free.
