Take part in the ancient Spanish tradition of El Dia de los Difuntos (Day of the Deceased) when families and friends celebrate and joyfully honor the memory of their loved ones who have died. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a demonstration of historic customs and foodways associated with this holiday and still used by Hispanic cultures to prepare for All Souls Day will takes place. The Marcha de la Santa Compaña (March of the Holy Company), is torch-lit procession through downtown St. Augustine at 7 p.m. from the Plaza along St. George Street to the City Gate area, with historical re-enactors representing the souls of “the Noble and Loyal City’s” citizens. This event ends with an abbreviated, candle-lit production of the play, Don Juan Tenorio at the Tolomato Cemetery. Admission is free.
